What is 'Break the Code'?
"Break the Code" is our official call to action. It is a campaign designed to raise awareness of gender bias, particularly the subtle prejudices often embedded in digital platforms and algorithms. We are encouraging our colleagues, partners, and local communities to help us dismantle these stereotypes and promote scientific and technical professions to everyone, regardless of gender.
This initiative is far more than just a campaign; it is a core pillar of our long-term strategy. Through our Gender+ Plan, Equans Sci-Tech is working towards a target of 20% female representation in management roles by 2026. This is a goal we are proud to stand behind, knowing it will make a lasting impact on the industry.
“ Together, let us contribute—in all humility—to this worthy cause to help more women thrive in these professional careers ”
From awareness to action: supporting women in STEM
We continue to support women through a range of tangible initiatives, including:
- Targeted Outreach: Early careers programs designed to inspire young women to pursue technical apprenticeships and engineering pathways.
- Internal Mentoring: Dedicated leadership development to support career progression for women in operational and technical roles.
- Inclusive Recruitment: Awareness campaigns and hiring practices designed to eliminate bias and attract diverse talent to our teams.
These efforts reflect our commitment to creating a more representative workforce. By combining awareness with action and ambition with accountability, we are helping shape a future where science and technology truly are for everyone.
Reshaping perceptions with real impact
Break the Code sits within a wider movement to reshape how the world perceives STEM careers. By addressing algorithmic bias and championing inclusive representation, we are helping to build a more equitable future for the engineering and technology sectors across the UK.
